Norwegian Cruise Line: NCL Cagney’s Steakhouse Menu and Review (2026)

NCL Cagney's Steakhouse Restaurant

Cagney’s Steakhouse is Norwegian Cruise Line’s signature specialty restaurant and one of the most popular dining venues across the fleet. The upscale steakhouse has become a staple of the NCL experience, serving premium steaks, seafood, classic sides, and decadent desserts in an elegant setting.

If you’re sailing with Norwegian’s Free at Sea package, Cagney’s is one of the best places to use your specialty dining credits. While Norwegian offers a variety of specialty restaurants, Cagney’s consistently ranks among the most highly-rated options onboard. In fact, it’s often one of the first specialty restaurants to fill up, so I always recommend making reservations as early as possible.

I’ve dined at Cagney’s several times over the years, and one thing that keeps me coming back is the consistency. Whether you’re sailing on one of Norwegian’s newest ships or an older vessel, the restaurant typically delivers excellent service, quality steaks, and generous portions.

Cagney’s Steakhouse currently carries a cover charge of $60 per person, making it one of Norwegian Cruise Line’s premium specialty dining venues. The good news is that guests sailing with Norwegian’s Free At Sea package can use one of their included specialty dining meals here, making Cagney’s an excellent value.

During my recent sailing, I returned to Cagney’s to see whether it still lived up to its reputation as one of Norwegian Cruise Line’s best specialty restaurants.

Everything we ordered at Cagney’s Steakhouse

Norwegian Cruise Line Glass of Wine

Here’s everything we ordered at Cagney’s Steakhouse during our recent cruise, including my honest thoughts on each dish and whether I’d order it again.

Warm Bread and Butter

Norwegian Cruise Line Cagney's Steakhouse Bread

Our meal started with complimentary bread and butter, which arrived warm to the table. This was a great start to the evening! The bread was soft, fresh, and paired perfectly with the butter.

Jumbo Shrimp Trio

Norwegian Cruise Line Cagney's Steakhouse Shrimp Cocktail

The shrimp cocktail was a great appetizer and exactly what you’d expect from a traditional steakhouse. The shrimp were flavorful and paired nicely with the classic cocktail sauce. While it wasn’t the most exciting dish of the evening, it was still a good choice.

Caesar Salad

The Caesar salad was fresh, but it wasn’t anything special. In fact, it tasted very similar to the Caesar salad served in Norwegian’s complimentary dining venues. It was fine, but not something I’d specifically return to Cagney’s for.

Grilled Thick-Cut Bacon

The grilled thick-cut bacon was delicious! The bacon had great flavor and the housemade steak sauce complemented it nicely. My only complaint was that I wished the portion was a bit larger because I could have easily eaten more.

The Iceberg Wedge

Rosina really enjoyed the iceberg wedge salad. The lettuce was crisp and fresh, while the bacon added plenty of flavor and texture. This ended up being my favorite of the starters we tried.

Rib Eye Steak

For my entrée, I ordered the rib eye steak. This steak was excellent and easily one of the highlights of the meal. It was packed with flavor without being overly fatty, and it was cooked exactly as ordered. If you’re looking for a traditional steakhouse experience, the rib eye is a great choice.

Filet Mignon

Rosina ordered the filet mignon, which was equally impressive. The steak was incredibly tender and cooked perfectly. Every bite was flavorful, and it delivered exactly what you’d expect from a premium filet.

Truffle Mashed Potatoes

The truffle mashed potatoes were one of the best side dishes we ordered. Rich, creamy, and full of flavor, they paired perfectly with our steaks and were easily worth ordering. I ate the entire side, although it wasn’t a huge serving.

Parmesan Dusted Truffle Fries

The truffle fries were another winner. Crispy on the outside and packed with truffle flavor, they quickly disappeared from the table. If you’re sharing sides, these are a must-order!

Steamed Broccoli

Unfortunately, the steamed broccoli was the least impressive item of the evening. It was very plain and lacked much flavor or seasoning. I would probably skip this one next time, as it was pretty boring.

Seven Layer Chocolate Cake

Norwegian Cruise Line Cagney Steakhouse Chocolate Cake

If you only order one dessert at Cagney’s, make it the Seven Layer Chocolate Cake. This dessert was rich, decadent, and absolutely loaded with chocolate flavor. It’s the perfect choice for chocolate lovers and was easily our favorite dessert of the evening!

Apple Pie

Norwegian Cruise Line Cagney Steakhouse Apple Pie

The apple pie was good and certainly worth trying, especially if you’re not a chocolate fan. It was comforting and well-executed, but after tasting the chocolate cake, it was difficult for anything else to compete.

Is Cagney’s Steakhouse on Norwegian Cruise Line worth it?

Norwegian Cruise Line Cagney Steakhouse Bread and Butter

In my opinion, Cagney’s Steakhouse is a must-try restaurant on Norwegian Cruise Line. Between the quality steaks, inviting atmosphere, attentive service, and consistently good food, Cagney’s remains one of Norwegian Cruise Line’s best specialty restaurants.

While the cover charge isn’t cheap, I think the experience is worth the cost. Better yet, if you’re sailing with specialty dining credits, this is one of the smartest ways to use them. After several cruises with Norwegian, Cagney’s continues to be one of the restaurants I recommend most often.
