Norwegian Cruise Line makes big changes to its loyalty program: How this affects cruisers

On the morning of September 29, 2025, Norwegian Cruise Line Holdings (NCLH) announced exciting updates to its well-established Latitudes Rewards loyalty program, and the news is especially good for guests who frequently sail with any of the Norwegian Cruise Line Holdings brands.

Many cruise lovers know that Norwegian Cruise Line Holdings operates not just Norwegian Cruise Line, but also the more upscale Oceania Cruises and luxury Regent Seven Seas Cruises.

And now, for the first time, loyalty status will be honored across all three of these brands, making it easier and more rewarding to explore the full range of what Norwegian Cruise Line Holdings has to offer.

What’s changing in NCL’s loyalty program?

Beginning with sailings on or after October 15, 2025, guests enrolled in Latitudes Rewards, Oceania Club, or the Seven Seas Society loyalty programs from previous sailings will have their loyalty tier matched at the closest equivalent level across the other two cruise lines.

This means your tier status will carry over on a per-cruise basis, depending on which brand you’re sailing with at the time.

“Beginning with sailings departing Oct. 15, 2025, members of Latitudes Rewards, Oceania Club, and the Seven Seas Society will be able to have their loyalty tier honored at the closest corresponding tier across all three brands,” stated Norwegian Cruise Line Holdings in its official press release.

The company’s president and chief executive officer emphasized that the change was designed to make guests feel valued, no matter which Norwegian Cruise Line Holdings cruise line they choose to sail with.

He shared that, “We want our guests to feel rewarded whenever they choose to sail within our family of award-winning cruise brands.”

“With the new Loyalty Status Honoring Program, our guests can experience more of what makes each brand special, while still enjoying the loyalty recognition they’ve worked hard to achieve.”

The Loyalty Status Honoring Program is designed to offer a more seamless and rewarding experience across the Norwegian Cruise Line Holdings family.

Guests can expect to enjoy status recognition across the different cruise lines, an overall elevated experience, and more opportunities to try new ships and destinations without losing the perks they’ve earned from past cruises.

According to the company, this change reflects a deeper commitment to customer loyalty and is part of Norwegian Cruise Line Holdings’ broader “Charting the Course” strategy, which aims to strengthen brand exploration, improve guest experience, and build long-term customer relationships with passengers.

By honoring loyalty across its portfolio, Norwegian Cruise Line Holdings hopes to deepen its connection with guests and introduce them to the unique offerings of each brand.

What this means for future NCL cruising

So, what does this really mean for you as a frequent cruiser?

Let’s say you’ve earned Gold status through repeat sailings with Norwegian Cruise Line. With this new program, you’ll now enjoy that same status level when you sail with Oceania Cruises or Regent Seven Seas Cruises, both of which are considered more upscale and premium travel experiences when compared to Norwegian Cruise Line.

This is a major benefit, especially since cruise fares on Norwegian Cruise Line tend to be more budget-friendly, making it easier to achieve a higher tier compared to the more exclusive luxury lines.

For instance, guests who hold Platinum status with Oceania Cruises currently enjoy a generous set of onboard benefits. These include access to an exclusive Oceania Club cocktail reception, special members-only offers, and 10% savings on Oceania Cruises logo merchandise.

Platinum members also receive a complimentary subscription to ‘Your World’ magazine, a bottle of Oceania Club private label wine, and an invitation to a special dinner hosted by ship officers. Additional perks include priority check-in at the terminal, $750 in shipboard credit, and two complimentary Aquamar Spa treatment credits, each valued up to $150.

Platinum cruisers also receive 10% savings on the Prestige Select beverage package and two free custom airfare waivers with a combined value of $398.

Previously, gaining access to these kinds of benefits would require multiple cruises specifically with Oceania. Now, however, Norwegian cruisers who have worked their way up to Platinum status on NCL can enjoy these upscale perks right away when they try an Oceania cruise for the very first time.

What NCL cruisers are saying about the change

The cruising community has responded positively to the news so far. On Norwegian Cruise Line’s official Facebook page, comments rolled in with enthusiasm. One fan wrote, “Love this, gotta try the sister brands!”

Another added, “A real plus, thank you NCL!” while a third chimed in with, “Yet another reason why I like cruising Norwegian, and now I can book with their other lines and keep my loyalty level! Cool beans!”

This update comes shortly after some controversial changes from Norwegian Cruise Line, such as the recent decision to add an up-charge for guests ordering a second entrée in the complimentary dining venues (you can read more about that here).

Despite that pushback, this loyalty enhancement appears to be a crowd-pleaser and a strategic move by Norwegian Cruise Line Holdings to retain loyal guests while expanding their interest in the company’s full portfolio of its cruise brands.
