I recently visited Singapore for the third time, and it continues to be one of my favorite countries in Asia.
Singapore is a melting pot, creating a rich culture throughout this incredible country. The city is clean, modern, and extremely safe. There are many must-do activities when visiting Singapore, but I hadn’t tried one of the most popular attractions until my recent visit.

On my third trip to Singapore, I finally decided to experience the famous Singapore Flyer, and I’m glad I did. While it’s easy to assume it’s just another giant Ferris wheel, the Flyer turned out to be a surprisingly relaxing and scenic way to take in Singapore’s iconic skyline.
If you’re wondering whether the Singapore Flyer is worth adding to your itinerary, here’s my honest take.
Getting to the Singapore Flyer

The Singapore Flyer is incredibly easy to reach using public transportation. Whether you hop on the MRT or take a bus, it’s well-connected and only a short walk from several major points around Marina Bay.
We walked a few blocks from the train station to arrive at the Singapore Flyer — I followed directions on my phone. After a long day of traveling and fighting jet lag, the ease of getting there was definitely a plus.

Because we were exhausted from our long flights, we felt the Singapore Flyer was the perfect low-key activity for our family.
Price and ticketing

Tickets cost 33 Singapore dollars (roughly $25 USD) per person. While that’s reasonable for the experience, costs could add up quickly for families or larger groups.

The good news is that you don’t need to book far in advance — we simply walked up to the ticket kiosk, bought our passes, and boarded without any hassle. This was easy to do with kiosks.
The Singapore Flyer experience

Before you even step into a capsule, your visit begins with an immersive walkthrough that highlights the history and construction of the Singapore Flyer. We loved learning about the Singapore Flyer and more information about the city’s history.

Through a series of engaging displays and exhibits, you’ll learn how this incredible structure came to be and its significance to Singapore. It’s a thoughtful touch that makes the experience more meaningful, and it’s all included with your admission. You’ll walk through this immersive experience before you head to the flyer itself.

After walking through the experience at your leisure, you’ll board a spacious, air-conditioned capsule that comfortably fits multiple groups. There are benches if you’d like to sit, and plenty of room to walk around and take in the views from all angles.

The ride itself is slow and smooth, giving you ample time to soak in 360-degree panoramas of Marina Bay, downtown Singapore, and the busy port area.
A video screen inside the capsule provides additional narration and information about what you’re seeing, adding another layer of context to the breathtaking scenery. We loved taking in the sights from the Singapore Flyer, which is one of the tallest in the world!

The activity was definitely family-friendly, and the capsules are big enough to accommodate even larger groups.
When to go to the Flyer

We visited during the early afternoon, but I imagine evening rides would be stunning, with the skyline lit up in a dazzling display.
If you’re looking for a relaxed, visually striking activity, especially after a long flight or full day of sightseeing, the Flyer makes a perfect choice.
It’s also a great option for a hot, humid day, offering a comfortable, air-conditioned break while still allowing you to enjoy Singapore’s incredible skyline.
Is the Singapore Flyer worth it?

While the Singapore Flyer might not be an absolute must-do if you’re on a very tight schedule, it’s well worth considering if you have a little extra time.
It’s leisurely, educational, and gives you a unique perspective of one of the world’s most beautiful cities. Once you finish your leisure ride, you can easily walk across the famous Vortex Bridge to visit Marina Bay, which is a popular attraction in Singapore.
With souvenir shopping available at the end and no need for complicated advance bookings, the Singapore Flyer offers a smooth, memorable experience, especially for first-time visitors or anyone wanting a relaxed, scenic view of Singapore.
If you have a few extra hours and want to see Singapore from a breathtaking new angle, the Singapore Flyer is absolutely worth it. If you’re on a tight schedule or budget, you might not want to take the time for the Singapore Flyer.
