Royal Caribbean’s Ultimate World Cruise onboard Serenade of the Seas was one of the most viral cruise stories of 2024–2025. From TikTok to Instagram, content creators documented the unprecedented 9-month journey around the globe, captivating millions of viewers with daily updates.
Now, one of those creators has revealed that a documentary or reality-style show was once in discussion. Dr. Jenny Travels, one of the most well-known influencers onboard, shared on her TikTok that she had met with producers while the world cruise was docked in Los Angeles.

According to Dr. Jenny, the idea of documenting Royal Caribbean‘s 274-night Ultimate World Cruise through a film crew had been discussed throughout the sailing.
She shares in her TikTok, “Here’s some juice about the 9-month world cruise that I never shared while on the world cruise… I did meet with producers for a documentary, or reality-show style, while here in LA.”
“And it was so exciting. Yes, there was a lot of chit-chatter and gossip throughout the cruise as to whether or not this was actually happening. And it was in the works,” continued Dr. Jenny.
Although the conversations generated plenty of buzz among passengers, Dr. Jenny confirmed that nothing ultimately came of it.
She explained, “As you can see, unfortunately (or maybe fortunately), nothing ever came to fruition from it. But I thought it would be cool to document this adventure in that way. And we will see if anything ever does come out. Not that one, but a documentary in general. But I guess we will just have to stay tuned and see!”
Dr. Jenny also confirmed in her TikTok caption that “no NDAs were ever signed.”
Why a world cruise documentary makes sense

Royal Caribbean‘s Ultimate World Cruise quickly became a viral sensation after setting sail in December 2023. Within weeks, TikTok was flooded with clips from passengers showing life onboard, from lavish formal nights and scenic sailaways to the realities of living in a 20-year-old ship cabin for nearly a year.
What made the cruise stand out online was the constant stream of unfiltered, personal storytelling. Creators like Dr. Jenny Travels and others amassed millions of views by posting daily vlogs, humorous takes on ship life, and behind-the-scenes glimpses that traditional travel marketing rarely shows.
For instance, the hashtag #UltimateWorldCruise drew hundreds of millions of views within months. Entire fan communities formed online, following along as if the cruise itself was a reality show.

Viewers tuned in for the drama just as much as the travel, from mechanical delays and itinerary changes to onboard gossip and friendships.
Mainstream media outlets from Business Insider to The New York Times even picked up on the phenomenon, publishing stories about how the cruise had become “TikTok’s favorite reality show without cameras.”
For many, the voyage felt like binge-worthy entertainment unfolding in real time, with passengers doubling as stars, producers, and commentators.
For now, nothing official has been announced by Royal Caribbean or any production company. Still, given the massive social media traction and the growing appetite for cruise-focused entertainment (from Netflix’s Below Deck-style shows to travel documentaries), it wouldn’t be surprising if a world cruise documentary emerges in the future.
As Dr. Jenny hinted, “We will just have to stay tuned and see.”
