One of the things I appreciate most about Norwegian Cruise Line is that you don’t have to spend extra money to enjoy a good meal. While specialty restaurants often get most of the attention, I’ve enjoyed countless meals in NCL’s Main Dining Room over the years.
For this guide, I compiled the menus from my recent 7-night Mediterranean cruise aboard Norwegian Pearl. During the sailing, we mixed specialty dining with meals in the Main Dining Room, which gave me the opportunity to photograph and collect the rotating dinner menus throughout the week.
Having sailed with Norwegian Cruise Line nearly 10 times over the years, I’ve eaten dozens of meals in NCL’s Main Dining Rooms across multiple ships and itineraries.

The Main Dining Room is also a core part of Norwegian’s Freestyle Cruising concept. Unlike traditional cruise lines that assign fixed dining times and dining tables, Norwegian allows guests to dine when they want, where they want, and with whom they want.
This flexible approach extends throughout the cruise experience, but it’s especially noticeable in the dining rooms where guests can simply show up during operating hours rather than planning their day around a set dinner seating.

Norwegian’s Main Dining Room serves breakfast, lunch, and dinner, although lunch is typically only offered on sea days. The breakfast menu remains largely the same throughout the cruise, while the dinner menu changes nightly. You’ll find a mix of rotating appetizers, soups, salads, featured entrées, desserts, and classic dishes that are available every evening.
One recent change worth noting is Norwegian Cruise Line’s new Main Dining Room entrée policy. Guests are now limited to one complimentary entrée per person.

While appetizers, soups, salads, and desserts remain available to order without additional charge, a second entrée will incur a $5 fee. Norwegian introduced the policy as part of its efforts to reduce food waste across the fleet.
