Celebrity Cruises’ Le Petit Chef is one of the most unique dining experiences you’ll find at sea, combining an animated tabletop show with a multi-course meal.
Available on most Celebrity ships, this specialty restaurant uses projection technology to bring a tiny animated chef to life right on your table. The chef guides you through each course with a playful, interactive storyline.
The concept is quite simple and the animations are basic, so don’t expect to be blown away by the technology. However, the dining experience is very memorable. Each course is tied to a theme as the chef shares his journey to becoming the “world’s greatest celebrity chef.”

The entire experience lasts about 90 minutes, making it more of a dinner show than just a meal.
I’ve tried Le Petit Chef four times now aboard Celebrity Silhouette, Celebrity Beyond, Celebrity Ascent, and Celebrity Solstice. While the show and menu have been largely consistent, there are a few variations depending on the sailing.
The overall structure at Le Petit Chef stays consistent, with two menu options available for each course. You can also mix and match between the menus based on your preferences.

Below are the Le Petit Chef menus I’ve personally experienced across multiple Celebrity sailings. I’ve also included an honest review of my experience and whether I would recommend it!
Le Petit Chef Menu Structure

Le Petit Chef’s menu on Celebrity Cruises is designed around four themed courses, which could vary based on the specific show you’re seeing. The most common themes that I’ve experienced include: History, Art, Love, and Technique.
I’ve also seen Le Petit Chef feature a seasonal theme with Spring, Summer, Fall and Winter. One menu even included a magic theme with Magical Soup, Artificial Intelligence, Magical Potion, and Candy Land.
For each course, you can choose between “Le Menu Extraordinaire” (the main menu tied directly to the show) or “The Other Menu” (an alternative option for each course).

You are not required to stick to one menu. In fact, most guests mix and match based on preference. Personally, this is what I’ve chosen to do each time.

My honest review of Le Petit Chef on Celebrity Cruises

After experiencing Le Petit Chef four times, I’d argue it’s one of the most unique dining experiences on Celebrity Cruises. However, it’s not something I need to do every single sailing.
The show itself is very cute, entertaining, and well done, but it doesn’t change much between ships. If you’ve seen one show, you’ve essentially seen it all. There might be slight changes in the storyline, but the concept is largely the same.
Even though I’ve dined at Le Petit Chef multiple times, I would still do it again, especially if I was traveling with someone who hadn’t experienced it before.

Most importantly, the food has always been excellent every time I’ve dined. Everything is well-presented, thoughtfully curated, and fits the storytelling aspect of the evening.
Some dishes are better than others, but overall, the quality is what you’d expect from a specialty restaurant on Celebrity. In fact, my dad said the filet mignon at Le Petit Chef was the best cut of meat he’s ever had!

Even though the menu is limited, the staff is incredibly accommodating. On one sailing, my sister didn’t like either salad option, and the waiter happily brought her mac and cheese from the kids menu instead.
Because the limited menu aligns with the show, it doesn’t change drastically, which is really the biggest downside for repeat cruisers. Unlike other specialty restaurants where you can try something new each time, Le Petit Chef is more about the experience than the variety.
Would I recommend Celebrity Cruises’ Le Petit Chef?

Yes, absolutely, but with a few caveats.
I think Celebrity’s Le Petit Chef worth trying at least once, especially if you’re on a longer cruise or looking for something different from the typical dining experience. It’s fun, interactive, and unlike anything else onboard.
Would I do it every cruise? Probably not. But I’ve still enjoyed it each time I’ve gone, especially when introducing it to someone new.
How long is Le Petit Chef on Celebrity Cruises?
The experience lasts about 1.5 hours from start to finish, including all four courses and the animated show.
Can you mix and match menu items?

Yes. You can choose from either menu for each course and mix and match however you’d like.
Can you request something not on the menu?
In many cases, yes. The staff is very accommodating and can often provide alternatives if something doesn’t appeal to you. Don’t be afraid to ask!
Is Le Petit Chef good for kids on Celebrity Cruises?

Yes, but I would only recommend it for kids around 5 years old and up. The show is engaging, but younger children may struggle to sit through the full 90-minute experience. Adults will enjoy the unique experience too!
Does the menu change at Le Petit Chef?
The menu has small variations, but it stays largely the same because it is tied directly to the storyline of the show.
Is Le Petit Chef worth the extra cost on a Celebrity Cruise?
If you enjoy unique dining experiences and something a little different, it’s worth trying at least once. The value comes as much from the entertainment as it does from the food.
