The Celebrity Murano menu features a classic, French-inspired lineup of dishes, but after dining there, I found the experience didn’t fully live up to the hype.
During a recent 14-night South America cruise aboard the Celebrity Equinox, I found myself paying closer attention to the small details that set Celebrity Cruises apart. From attentive service to elevated dining, the onboard experience felt more refined than what I’ve come to expect from other mainstream cruise lines.
This became especially clear during dinner at Murano, Celebrity’s signature French-inspired specialty restaurant.

Our itinerary included stops in places like Ushuaia and the Falkland Islands, along with scenic cruising near Cape Horn. After 50+ cruises, this was one of the most unique cruise itineraries I’ve experienced. The cooler weather and long days in port made onboard dining feel like a bigger part of the overall experience.
Before the cruise, I had read many reviews online calling Murano the best specialty restaurant on Celebrity Cruises. Some even described it as one of the best dining experiences at sea. Naturally, my expectations were quite high.
After dining there, I can understand why Murano has this reputation. The service is very refined, the atmosphere is elegant, and the experience feels more upscale than most cruise dining.

At the same time, it did not fully live up to the level of hype I had seen online. While we enjoyed the meal and had several excellent dishes, the experience felt more good than exceptional.
Here’s my honest review of Celebrity’s Murano restaurant, including the entire menu that you’ll find when dining here.
Note: This menu is from our sailing on Celebrity Equinox in March 2026 and reflects current offerings at the time of our cruise.
What to expect at Celebrity’s Murano restaurant

Murano is designed to feel like a classic fine dining restaurant, not a typical cruise venue.
The atmosphere is quiet and intimate, with dim lighting and a slower pace that encourages you to settle in for a multi-course meal. Service is formal without feeling stiff, and the experience features more traditional techniques like tableside preparation.
This is where Murano really shines! Certain dishes, like lobster or Chateaubriand, are finished or presented tableside, which adds a level of detail you don’t often see at sea anymore. This experience was unlike anything we had tried on a cruise ship before!

The menu itself is inspired by French cuisine, with a mix of classic dishes and modern touches. You’ll find plenty of soufflés, rich sauces, and composed plates rather than anything overly experimental.
On our sailing, pricing started at $53.99 per adult when booked in advance, with discounts available pre-cruise.

Everything we ordered at Murano
Here’s a full breakdown of everything we ordered at Murano, along with our honest thoughts on each dish.
Bread service

Murano started strong with a selection of warm breads, including herb, multigrain, and sourdough. The quality and presentation really set the tone for a more refined dining experience. We liked the soft, multigrain bread the most!
Palate Cleanser (Ham and Cheese Croquette)

We were served a ham and cheese croquette with truffle aïoli to start. It was crisp, savory, and flavorful, offering a great first impression and a hint at the attention to detail throughout the meal. I could have eaten a couple of these bad boys!
Warm Goat Cheese Soufflé

This was easily one of the best dishes of the night. The soufflé had a creamy, almost quiche-like texture with a rich, flavorful sauce. Everyone at the table loved it and agreed it was the best appetizer. Even as someone who doesn’t love goat cheese on its own, this was delicious.
Pork Belly

The pork belly had good flavor, but it was very fatty, even for this type of dish. If you enjoy rich, fatty cuts, you might appreciate it, but for us, it was a bit too heavy.
Porcini & Morel Risotto

The risotto was well-executed, with a nice texture and a subtle hint of truffle. It wasn’t overly rich, and the flavors were balanced and enjoyable. I would order this one again!
Wild Forest Mushroom Cappuccino

This mushroom soup had a very bold, earthy flavor. It was more intense than creamy, which made it a hit for my dad, who finished every bite. If you love mushrooms, this is a great choice.
Tomato & Buffalo Mozzarella Salad

This dish was fresh and light, with refreshing flavors that worked well together. It was a nice contrast to some of the heavier options on the menu.
Phyllo Baked Anjou Pear

One of my personal favorites. The sweetness of the pear paired nicely with the candied pecans, creating a balanced and flavorful dish. My mom and I both really enjoyed this one, although my sister didn’t care for it.
Creamy Maine Lobster Bisque

The lobster bisque was fine but not particularly memorable. This was one of the most disappointing appetizers. My mom didn’t finish it, which says a lot for a dish that is usually a crowd favorite.
Young Spinach Salad

This was the least appealing dish for our group. The combination of flavors, including nutty and savory elements with bacon, didn’t fully come together for us.
Murano Lobster

The lobster entrée was rich and indulgent, served in a creamy sauce that delivered on flavor but was quite heavy. This is a good choice if you’re looking for something decadent.
Châteaubriand for Two

This was the highlight of the meal. The steak was carved tableside and served with roasted potatoes and vegetables. It initially came out much rarer than we requested, but the staff quickly corrected it without hesitation. Once adjusted, the beef was tender, flavorful, and excellent, especially with the béarnaise sauce.
Seared Milk-Fed Veal Tenderloin

The veal was another strong dish. It was tender and well-prepared, paired with smooth mashed potatoes and a sauce that complemented the flavors nicely.
Dessert Flight (Les VI étoiles du Murano)

My mom ordered the dessert sampler, which included six mini desserts. It was a fun way to try a variety of flavors, including chocolate, fruit, and custard elements. This was one of the more memorable parts of the experience!
Dark Chocolate Soufflé

The chocolate soufflé was rich and well-executed, served with a warm sauce. While it was very good, I personally preferred the chocolate cake.
Valrhona Cocoa Cake (Chocolate Cake)

This was excellent and a standout dessert. Recommended by our server, it featured layers of chocolate mousse with a crispy white chocolate base, creating a great combination of textures and flavors.
Grand Marnier Soufflé

This ended up being the all-time favorite of the night. My dad loved it so much that we ordered a second one. He even joked that he would come back just for this dessert, which says a lot!
Crêpe Ballon Rouge

Very yummy and a fun way to end the meal. This dessert was prepared tableside, which made it feel like one final experience and added a nice interactive touch.
Is Celebrity’s Murano restaurant worth it?

Murano was a good experience for us, but it didn’t quite live up to the hype.
Going into the meal, I had high expectations. I had read countless reviews calling it the best specialty restaurant on Celebrity, with some even saying it was the best dining experience at sea. After trying it myself, I wouldn’t go that far.
That said, we still enjoyed the evening.
Part of it may have come down to what we ordered. Some dishes were excellent, especially the goat cheese soufflé, Chateaubriand, and desserts, while others didn’t quite come together. The menu features many rich, classic dishes, which can be hit or miss depending on your preferences.

We also had a small issue with the steak initially coming out much rarer than requested. It was very pink, closer to rare than medium well. Our waiter handled it immediately, had it corrected without hesitation, and the final result was tender, flavorful, and cooked exactly how we wanted.
This moment really sums up Murano well. The service and attention to detail are where the restaurant shines.
The ambiance is another highlight. It feels upscale and refined, with a quieter, more traditional atmosphere than what you’ll find on newer ships. If anything, Murano is a bit old-school, in both style and menu, which some people will love and others may find less exciting.

For us, it was worth trying and a fun experience overall. It’s the kind of place I’d consider for a special night, especially for a date night with my husband, but I’m not sure it’s something I’d prioritize doing again on every Celebrity cruise.
If you’re expecting a flawless, mind-blowing meal, you might walk away a little underwhelmed. But if you go in looking for a classic fine dining experience with strong service and a few excellent dishes, Murano could be worth it.
