Norwegian Cruise Line has revealed new information about its newest ship, Norwegian Aura, which is set to hit the high seas in 2027. Once she debuts, Norwegian Aura will become the newest, and largest, ship in Norwegian Cruise Line’s ever-growing fleet.
The Norwegian Aura is currently scheduled to make her first sailing in the Mediterranean in May 2027. After completing her inaugural season and sailing, the ship will reposition to Miami, Florida, where she will be homeported beginning in June 2027.
The ship’s impressive size

Not only will Norwegian Aura be the newest ship in the fleet, but it will also be the largest ship Norwegian Cruise Line has ever built.
Like other ships in the NCL fleet, Norwegian Aura is being constructed by Italian shipbuilder Fincantieri. The ship will measure nearly 1,130 feet in length and weigh approximately 169,000 gross tons. This will make the ship about 10% larger than Norwegian Aqua and Norwegian Luna, currently NCL’s newest ships.
Along with her impressive size, Norwegian Aura will be able to accommodate up to 3,840 guests at double occupancy. The ship will feature 1,976 staterooms, including an expanded The Haven area, offering even more exclusive luxury for guests seeking a premium experience onboard.
What NCL says about its newest ship

Harry Sommer, president and chief executive officer of Norwegian Cruise Line Holdings, shared his thoughts on the new ship, saying:
“We are proud to introduce the newest and latest addition to our fleet, Norwegian Aura.
Norwegian Aura represents the evolution of Norwegian Cruise Line and the celebration of bringing together families, friends, and travelers from around the world. With brilliance and connection at her core, the ship was created to give all guests the freedom to vacation their very own way—offering the chance to exhale, connect, and effortlessly escape into the moment.”
New features guests can experience onboard

One of the standout features onboard Norwegian Aura will be Ocean Heights, an open-air activity space designed to emphasize that sense of freedom.
During the day, this area will serve as a hub for families, while at night it will transform into a relaxed social space for guests to unwind.
Once homeported in Miami, starting in June 2027, Norwegian Aura will primarily offer 7-night Caribbean cruises. These sailings will include stops at one or both of Norwegian Cruise Line’s private island destinations: Harvest Caye, located off the coast of Belize, and Great Stirrup Cay in the Bahamas.

Norwegian Aura will also feature the largest selection of onboard activities of any NCL ship. Spanning decks 18 through 21, a brand-new activity zone will include the most waterslides in the fleet. This area will also include adventure areas, a ropes course, rock climbing, mini golf, outdoor games, and private cabanas for guests looking to relax between activities.
Like Norwegian Aqua and Norwegian Luna, Norwegian Aura will place a strong emphasis on connecting guests with the ocean. This can be seen in another signature space onboard: Ocean Boulevard. Located on deck 8, this outdoor promenade will wrap around the entire ship.
What sets Norwegian Aura apart

Unlike Ocean Boulevard on other Prima Class ships, the version onboard Norwegian Aura will be larger and more enhanced, featuring new seating areas, additional hot tubs, a new bar, and an expanded Infinity Beach space.
Ocean Boulevard will also include dedicated areas for younger passengers, with spaces designed specifically for teenagers and play zones for toddlers located toward the front of the ship.
Some guests who sailed aboard earlier Prima Class ships noted that the main pool deck felt small for the number of passengers onboard. Norwegian Cruise Line appears to have addressed this feedback with Norwegian Aura, as the ship will feature the most spacious pool decks in the fleet.

These expanded areas will include more seating, additional hot tubs, larger screens, and expanded lounge spaces, offering guests more room to spread out and relax.
In addition, Norwegian Aura will feature a children’s aqua park, outdoor lawn games, and other family-friendly amenities, further solidifying the ship as a great option for families cruising together.
For adults seeking a quieter escape, the Vibe Beach Club, Norwegian Cruise Line’s adults-only space, has also been expanded. Guests can expect more loungers, infinity pools, shaded areas, and additional space to unwind away from the crowds.
Exciting things in store for NCL

Norwegian Aura is shaping up to be one of the most exciting ships in Norwegian Cruise Line’s fleet. With expanded public spaces, more onboard activities, and enhanced outdoor areas, there will be plenty for guests to explore once the ship makes her debut.
NCL is set to have an exciting year ahead with their recent brand changes, and the debut of a new ship on the horizon. As always, we’ll continue to keep our readers updated with the latest details on Norwegian Aura and all the newest cruise news!
