Norwegian Cruise Line has officially revealed plans for its newest ship, Norwegian Aura. The brand-new Prima Plus vessel is slated to become the largest vessel in Norwegian’s fleet when she debuts in 2027.
Following the debut of Norwegian Luna, Norwegian Aura marks the next evolution of NCL’s Prima Plus platform. The cruise line is positioning the ship as a major step forward, with more outdoor space, new attractions, and a stronger focus on multi-generational travel.
According to Norwegian Cruise Line Holdings, the ship represents “the evolution of Norwegian Cruise Line,” designed to help guests “vacation their very own way” with a greater emphasis on connection, flexibility, and open-air experiences.
While plenty of details are still to come, Norwegian has already shared a detailed first look. Here’s everything we know so far about Norwegian Aura.
What is Norwegian Aura?

Norwegian Aura is Norwegian Cruise Line’s newest cruise ship and the third vessel in the line’s expanded Prima-Plus class, following Norwegian Aqua and Norwegian Luna.
Norwegian Aura will be nearly 1,130 feet long, measure 169,000 gross tons, and accommodate 3,840 guests at double occupancy. The cruise line says NCL Aura will be about 10% larger than NCL Aqua and NCL Luna, making it the biggest ship in the fleet to date.
The vessel is currently under construction at Italian shipbuilder Fincantieri and is being designed with input from several major architectural firms, including Rockwell Group, SMC Design, Studio Dado, AD Associates, and Piero Lissoni.
When will Norwegian Aura launch?

Norwegian Aura is scheduled to debut in May 2027.
The Prima Plus vessel’s inaugural sailing will be a 7-night Mediterranean cruise departing May 21, 2027, from Trieste, Italy, to Barcelona, Spain. After that, the ship will cross the Atlantic on a 13-night transatlantic voyage before beginning Caribbean cruises from Miami in June 2027.
Where will Norwegian Aura sail?

For its inaugural season, Norwegian Aura will primarily operate in the Caribbean following a short Mediterranean cruise and transatlantic sailing.
Before arriving in the U.S., Norwegian Aura is scheduled to sail a 7-night Mediterranean itinerary from Trieste to Barcelona with stops in Valletta, Malta, Salerno, and Rome (Civitavecchia), Italy.
Following a 13-night transatlantic crossing, NCL Aura will begin sailing 7-night Eastern Caribbean cruises from Miami between June and October 2027. These itineraries are expected to include Puerto Plata, St. Thomas, Tortola, and Great Stirrup Cay.
In winter 2027-2028, the ship will shift to 7-night Western Caribbean sailings from Miami, visiting destinations such as Roatan, Costa Maya, Cozumel, and Harvest Caye in Belize.
What will make Norwegian Aura different?

The cruise line highlights that Norwegian Aura will feature more outdoor space and family-focused experiences than other Prima Class vessels.
Norwegian Aura has been designed with the most expansive outdoor space in the fleet, along with reimagined versions of guest-favorite venues. At the center of it all is a brand-new concept called Ocean Heights, which will serve as the ship’s main attraction.
Rather than simply adding more onboard venues, Norwegian is focusing on how those spaces flow together, especially outdoors, with areas that transition from high-energy daytime activities to more relaxed evening environments.
Ocean Heights will be Norwegian Aura’s signature attraction

Ocean Heights is one of the most exciting features announced for Norwegian Aura.
Spanning decks 18 through 21, the three-level open-air complex is designed as a multi-generational hub that shifts from daytime thrills to a more laid-back, social atmosphere at night with immersive lighting and entertainment.
The space will include more slides than any Norwegian ship to date, along with a mix of attractions designed for families and active travelers. Highlights include:
- Eclipse Racers, Norwegian’s first dueling mat racer waterslides stretching more than 400 feet
- Aura Free Fall, a drop-floor body slide
- The Wave, a raft slide for up to four guests
- The Drop, the returning 10-deck dry slide
- An 82-foot ropes course
- A 25-foot rock climbing wall
- Aura Midway, a carnival-style outdoor game area
- A 9-hole mini golf course
- Overhanging cabanas overlooking Vibe Beach Club
- An outdoor bar and lounge areas
The concept reflects Norwegian’s focus on creating more dynamic, flexible outdoor spaces that appeal to multiple age groups at once.
Norwegian Aura will have more outdoor space than any other NCL vessel

Another major selling point is the amount of outdoor space across the ship.
Ocean Boulevard is the wraparound promenade introduced on Prima Class ships, and it will be 11% larger than on NCL Aqua and NCL Luna. It will feature more seating, additional hot tubs, a new bar, and an expanded Infinity Beach with day beds and wading pools.
The area will also include dedicated spaces for kids and teens, including Adventure Alley, Teen Hangout, and Little Explorer’s Cove.
The pool deck will be the largest in Norwegian’s fleet

Norwegian Aura will feature the largest pool deck in the fleet, more than 20% larger than those on Norwegian Aqua and Norwegian Luna. This is a much-needed upgrade over the first-generation Prima Class ships, which were widely criticized for having limited pool space.
The expanded space will include more seating, additional lounge areas, a larger LED screen, and extra hot tubs, addressing one of the biggest pain points on newer cruise ships.
Nearby, the Kids’ Aqua Park will offer splash features and two family-friendly waterslides: the Party Slide and Infinity Loop. Horizon Park on the top deck will provide lawn games and additional seating.
Vibe Beach Club will be bigger than ever

The cruise line is also expanding one of its most popular premium spaces aboard Norwegian Aura.
Norwegian Aura’s Vibe Beach Club will be 15% larger than those found on Norwegian Aqua and Norwegian Luna, making it the largest in the fleet. The adults-only area will include more loungers and daybeds, infinity hot tubs, a waterfall feature, and a central bar.
The Haven will be the largest in NCL’s fleet

Norwegian Aura will also introduce the largest suite-only Haven complex in the fleet.
The ship will have 1,976 staterooms, including 159 suites within The Haven by Norwegian. The cruise line says Aura will offer 30% more suites than previous Prima Class ships.
The Haven will include a private sundeck, infinity pool, hot tubs, sauna, cold room, private restaurant, lounge, and bar, along with exclusive elevator access and butler service.
Design-wise, the space is being led by Italian designer Piero Lissoni, with shared areas created by Studio Dado to reflect a more nature-inspired, tranquil environment.
Great Stirrup Cay will play a major role in itineraries

Norwegian Aura’s Caribbean sailings will heavily feature Great Stirrup Cay, the cruise line’s private island in the Bahamas.
The destination has recently undergone significant upgrades, including the addition of Great Life Lagoon, a large pool area with swim-up bars and lounge seating, and Vibe Shore Club, an adults-only retreat.
Ahead of Aura’s debut, Norwegian is also planning to open the new Great Tides Waterpark, which will feature 19 waterslides, cliff jumps, and a dynamic river.
Norwegian Aura will feature new hull art

Like other Norwegian ships, Norwegian Aura will feature custom hull art — this time designed by international mural artist Rosie Woods.
Her design is inspired by celestial light and bioluminescent seas, reflecting the ship’s “illuminating” theme and adding to Norwegian’s tradition of bold, artistic ship exteriors.
How much will Norwegian Aura cost?
