Celebrity Cruises has confirmed that Celebrity Infinity will proceed as scheduled for its February 27, 2026 sailing, offering reassurance to guests after the ship experienced a significant power outage earlier this month that led to a cancellation.
In an email sent to booked passengers, obtained by Candid Cruise & Travel, the cruise line emphasized that the upcoming voyage will sail as scheduled.
“We are looking forward to welcoming you aboard Celebrity Infinity for your upcoming February 27, 2026 sailing,” the email states. “Our team is preparing an unforgettable vacation experience for you, and we’re happy to confirm that your sailing will proceed as planned.”

The message continues, highlighting the brand’s onboard experience:
“From the moment you arrive, you can look forward to all the signature touches that make sailing with Celebrity Cruises so special—elevated hospitality, world-class dining, brilliant entertainment, and warm, attentive crew members ready to help you relax into vacation mode.”
The email concludes, “We look forward to sharing an extraordinary voyage with you. We’ll see you soon!”
The 10-night Eastern Mediterranean sailing is scheduled to depart from Athens (Piraeus) with visits to Nafplion, Heraklion in Crete, Rhodes, Kavala, Thessaloniki, and Kusadasi (Ephesus), with two sea days included.
The latest email from Celebrity Cruises suggests that required technical assessments and repairs have been completed, and the vessel is cleared to resume normal operations. There have been no announcements of itinerary changes or delays for the February 27, 2026 departure.
Celebrity Infinity suffered a power outage off the coast of Greece

As previously reported by Candid Cruise & Travel, passengers aboard Celebrity Infinity reported a shipwide power outage in the early morning hours of February 14 while the vessel was positioned off the coast of Piraeus, Greece.
According to multiple social media posts from guests onboard, the outage began around 3 a.m. ship time. One passenger wrote on Facebook:
“Emergency right now on Celebrity Infinity off the coast of Greece. The ship has lost all power since 3am (50 minutes ago) and is currently dead in the water. Tug boats have raced over to hold us in position. No electric in the rooms, air con off, toilets off, WiFi off. Bravo Bravo Bravo announcement over the ship wide speaker system.”
Another passenger in the sailing’s dedicated Facebook group reported waking up when their cabin became warm due to the loss of air conditioning.
“Power outage while off the coast of Piraeus (Athens)! Off since 3am, woke up because it got stuffy – no air con, no running water, no lights, no wifi, no elevators. Saw some tugboats coming over, no ETA on fix.”
Marine tracking data shared by commenters indicated the ship was displaying a “not under command” status, a maritime designation used when a vessel is unable to maneuver due to mechanical or propulsion-related issues. Tugboats were observed assisting the ship at slow speed toward port.
Passengers reported emergency lighting was active in common areas, though cabins were without power, running water, or working toilets for several hours.
Celebrity cancelled February 16 sailing for necessary repairs

Following the incident, Celebrity Cruises canceled the ship’s February 16, 2026 departure from Piraeus.
In a letter sent to booked guests for that sailing, the cruise line explained:
“During our previous voyage, the ship experienced a technical issue and while our experts have been working diligently, we need additional time to complete necessary assessments and repairs. After carefully considering all options, we’ve made the difficult decision to cancel the February 16th, 2026, sailing.”
Affected passengers were offered a full refund of cruise fare, including non-refundable deposits and prepaid amenities. Guests also received a Future Cruise Credit valued at 100 percent of the cruise fare paid, valid for one year.
Celebrity Cruises additionally offered reimbursement for flight change fees, hotel accommodations up to two nights at $300 per night, and incidental expenses up to $100 per guest per day for up to two days.
Ongoing technical issues for Celebrity Infinity

The February outage is not the first power-related incident involving Celebrity Infinity in recent months.
In July 2025, the ship experienced an electrical fire while docked in Kusadasi, Turkey. That incident reportedly originated in an engine room or switchboard area and resulted in a complete power blackout for several hours during high summer temperatures.
Although power was restored, further technical concerns were discovered during overnight testing. The ship remained in port and canceled scheduled visits to Mykonos and Kavala.
The recurrence of electrical or propulsion-related problems has drawn increased scrutiny from frequent cruisers monitoring the ship’s reliability ahead of Mediterranean sailings.
