Away Luggage reviews: Is it worth buying for Amazon Prime Day?

Away Luggage Review

Amazon Prime Day is finally here, and for frequent travelers like me, it’s the perfect time to snag Away luggage at a discount.

Away suitcases are sleek and feature a minimalist look that’s easy to spot in the airport. After reading glowing Away luggage reviews, I splurged on a set myself. Away Luggage rarely goes on sale, making Prime Day an ideal opportunity to invest in luggage that will last you for years.

Although pricey, Away Luggage is worth the investment if you travel frequently.

As someone who has cruised over 50 times and visited more than 60 countries across six continents, I rely on quality luggage to keep up with my frequent travels. For many years, I hauled around janky suitcases from TJ Maxx because I was too afraid of the airlines damaging a nice suitcase.

My husband eventually convinced me to invest in a higher-quality set of Away Luggage, although the higher price was initially pretty shocking. However, I was quickly convinced the purchase was worthwhile, and I’ve been growing my Away Luggage collection for the last three years. Now, I have seven different Away suitcases in my collection!

For Amazon Prime Day, Away suitcases are on sale up to 25% off, which is rare for the luggage brand. This is comparable to Away’s Black Friday sales, so it’s a great time to splurge.

After using Away for years, here’s why I believe it’s worth the investment

If you’re looking for Away Luggage reviews, here are some of the top reasons I think these suitcases are worthwhile.

Durability and functionality: Away suitcases are made with a magically durable yet flexible polycarbonate shell that withstands rough handling. While the shell can get scuffed, it’s easy to clean with a Magic Eraser and water. I’ve only had one instance where my hardshell cracked slightly, and Away was quick to replace the suitcase.

TSA locks for security: All Away suitcases come with built-in TSA-approved combination locks, adding peace of mind when checking luggage or leaving your bag unattended.

Sleek, minimalist designs: Their clean, modern aesthetic looks professional and stylish, whether you’re flying for business, cruising, or taking the train across Europe. I like purchasing more fun colors (particularly pink suitcases) to easily identify my bags at the airport.

Smooth-rolling wheels: The 360-spinner wheels roll like a dream, even when maneuvering heavy suitcases through airports, train stations, or cruise terminals. I’ve often rolled three Away suitcases at once without any issue. For most of my bigger international trips, I navigate the airports with two checked Away suitcases and one Away Bigger Carry-On.

Smart storage and organization: Away’s compression divider keeps everything secure and maximizes space, while the included laundry bag is perfect for storing dirty clothes separately during your trip.

Space efficiency: I can easily fit 45 pounds in my Bigger Carry-On using packing cubes. Despite how much it holds, I’ve never had issues with it being too big for overhead bins, even on strict airlines abroad like RyanAir and Spirit Airlines. I fly Delta almost exclusively though, and I’ve never had an issue.

Stackable for easy storage: Another benefit is that Away suitcases nest inside each other when empty, saving space at home (or in your cruise cabin, if you’re like me).

Comfortable trolley handles: The handles extend and retract smoothly, making it effortless to adjust when rolling different suitcase sizes together.

My personal Away suitcase collection

Here’s what I personally own and my Away Luggage reviews for each:

The Bigger Carry-On: Classic, spacious, and highly durable. Perfect for carry-on-only trips. This suitcase is award-winning and rolls effortlessly through airports, train stations, and cruise terminals. This was my first Away suitcase, and I fell in love with the quality and functionality!

The Bigger Carry-On Flex: Great for expanding when I need extra space. After traveling with the Bigger Carry On for over a year, I decided to splurge on an expandable one. I rarely have to use the expander, but it’s nice to have the option. Even when expanded, I’ve never had issues with the airlines, although sometimes the suitcase has been too big for the overhead compartments.

The Medium: My go-to checked bag for shorter trips or as an extra suitcase for souvenirs on longer vacations. My husband has the flex suitcase, which adds extra flexibility. I love this suitcase because it’s lighter than the Large checked bag, so I typically place heavier items in here for weight restrictions.

The Large Flex: Ideal for long-haul trips where I need to pack everything. This is my go-to checked suitcase for longer trips or international itineraries. It gets heavy quickly, but has held up flawlessly after three years of global travel. My Large Flex has been to four continents and taken over 75 flights with me!

The Trunk: I love its tall design as a taller traveler, though I did need to replace my first one after a single trip. The hardshell cracked slightly near the wheel, but Away’s customer service replaced it without question. The deeper compartment allows for more packing, especially bulkier items. I am a little leery to use the Trunk after the shell cracked so easily, and it does get heavy quickly.

The Weekend Bag: Matches my carry-ons, fits securely on top with the trolley sleeve, and is waterproof. It holds more than I expected, making it ideal for quick trips. The bag splits open like a suitcase so you can pack outfits.
